Patnem Beach is one of the most peaceful beaches in Goa. Many people compare Palolem beach and Patnem beach but Both these beaches are very beautiful and peaceful. but you liked some important things about Patnem beach. So I’ts recommended to come here during your trip to South Goa and spend a few days here.

You will get a very cheap place to stay in Patnem beach compared to other beaches. Moreover, you can do all the travel activities that are done at other beaches in South Goa at Patnem Beach. But other adventure activities like banana boat rides, jet skiing, bumper rides, parasailing, etc. can be done at Baga Beach in North Goa.

Patnem Beach is located about 80 km from Baga Beach. After coming here, I didn’t go back to North Goa. There are many places to visit near Patnem Beach and other famous beaches are very close. Palolem Beach is just 2 km away from Patnem; you can easily walk there. Butterfly Beach is just 7.5 km away from here; if you take a car or board, then it will take 15 minutes.

Another famous beach is Galgibaga Beach, which is also just 7.3 km away from Patnem. My main purposes for coming here were the quiet beach, shopping, resturents and some famous shacks. Yes, here you can buy authentic Goan Accessories, and also, if you want to stay near the beach, you can stay here relatively cheap. There are various types of resorts and beach huts, that you can get for just 1500 rupees.

The nightlife of Patnem Beach is also great. If you love to eat and enjoy food in shacks, then Patnem Beach can be a great place for you. Because South Goa has many famous shacks here, also there are many restaurants and bars where you can eat some authentic Goan food. All these restaurants have happy hour during that time; you can eat food and drinks at good discounts. So let’s welcome you to this beautiful journey of Patnem beach. How to reach Patnem beach:

Patnem Beach is located at the very end of South Goa, and it is very easy to reach the beach from anywhere in Goa. I will tell you some routes to reach there and how you can reach Patnem so that you do not have any difficulty.

From Dabolim Airport:

The distance from Dabolim Airport in the north to the beach is approximately 61 kilometers.  You will find many scooty rentals from Dabolim Airport, and you can easily come here by renting a scooty. The easiest and best way to get here is to rent a scooty. Apart from this, you can also get here by taking a bus from the airport. There are many buses and taxis available there; you can easily come from there by bus. Moreover, the bus fare is very low, only 80 rupees, and the taxi is around 2200 to 2600 rupees.

I would suggest you rent a scooty and come here. The scooty fare will be very cheap; you will get a scooty for just Rs 400 to Rs 500. Before renting a scooty, take a good video so that you can see the condition of the scooty at the time of return. And you have to pay an advance of Rs 1000; later, when you return the scooty, they will give you back that money.

I think the system is very good. I myself have spent many days in Goa, and I had a scooty almost every day. Since I was travelling alone, I preferred a scooty. If you are travelling here with your family and you are able to drive, then you can definitely rent a four-wheeler. If you are travelling with two, then a scooty will be best for you.

Local Transport:

If you want to travel on a budget, travelling by scooty or bus will be the best option. If you come here by bus, then you can reach here with very little money. The bus fare will be between 60 and 100 rupees here, and you can get a scooty within 500 rupees. The roads here are so beautiful that when you come here by bus or scooty, you will be amazed by the view around you. If you are coming by bus, then try to sit in the window seat because you are going to enjoy the very best view. South Goa seems to me the best, especially during the rainy days.

From Railway Station:

Another easy and quick way to reach Patnem Beach is from the railway station because the nearest railway station here is Canacona Railway Station. Canacona Station is located just 3 km away from here. So you can understand that you are getting a railway station very close to the beach, and the station looks quite beautiful. If you are coming to visit Goa, then I hope you are getting down at Vasco da Gama or Margao Railway Station.

Then from there you will get a train to Canacona Railway Station. If you are going to visit Dudhsagar, then you can take a train from this Canacona station as the rail journey becomes very important at that time. You can easily go to Madgaon by train from here or travel to North Goa by train. Being so close to the railway station, you will get a lot of autos and taxis from there, and they are very budget friendly. If you want to come here from Madgaon Railway Station, then the distance from Madgaon to Patnem Beach is about 36 km.

I would suggest you get down at Margao Station and rent a scooty from there. From there, first go to Benaulim Beach because I especially liked this very beautiful beach in South Goa. Then from there you go to Cola Beach and stay for a day in Cola. From there you can go to Kakolem beach; this is the only beach where there is a waterfall, so don’t miss it. Of course you should go to Kakolem beach, and then you should go to Petnem beach. The road is very easy and straight, so you won’t have much difficulty; you will enjoy the beautiful scenery along the entire road.

Location and places to visit near Patnem Beach:

Patnem Beach is actually located at the very end of Goa, and you will find a lot of places to visit and very beautiful, famous beaches around here.

Palolem Beach:

Palolem Beach is located just two kilometres away from here, and it is a very famous beach in South Goa. All the tourists who come to visit South Goa must visit here. The time of staying at Patnem Beach is very easy; you can reach Palolem Beach in just a 20-minute walk. I sometimes used to walk along the seashore and reach Palolem Beach; you can also do that, or you can go there by auto.

I would suggest you stay at Patnem Beach and Palolem Beach wherever you want and visit both beaches together. You can do various tribal activities on these two beaches and also enjoy the very famous shacks here. I like to eat in a shack, and I like to see the beautiful view of the beach and the authentic Goan food.

Butterfly Beach:

Butterfly Beach is a very beautiful beach. When you see the beach from Google Maps, you will see it like a butterfly; that is why the beach is called Butterfly Beach. It is so famous that every tourist has it on their bucket list; everyone will definitely come here. You will see most of the foreign tourists here; I made a lot of Russian and American friends here. Among them, this beach is one of the best beaches in South Goa.

Since it is only 5 km away from Patnem beach, you can easily reach here by cruise or by car. But I would suggest you go here by cruise; the fare is around Rs 1,000–1,200 for a round trip. Auto will take you to Butterfly Beach for just Rs 50, but if you don’t experience the cruise in Goa, your trip will not be complete.

If you are interested in photography, Butterfly Beach is an ideal place. You will love the beautiful dolphin spotting here; besides, there are some trekking places nearby where you can do that trek.

Agonda Beach:

Another beautiful beach located just 10 km away from Patnem Beach is Agonda Beach. This beach is famous for its beautiful and peaceful environment; very few tourists come to visit here. So if you want to spend some time alone and relax, then I would suggest you go to Agonda Beach and spend some time with yourself. Moreover, like other beaches, there are many travel activities here; you can do those activities if you want.

Another special thing about Agonda Beach is that the beach is located in the lap of nature. You will love the beautiful greenery and clear, clean water around the beach. Then whenever you come to Goa, you will spend a day at Agonda beach.

Cabo de Rama Fort:

For those who love history, this place is almost like heaven. I myself love history and always keep searching for historical places and things. I liked Cabo de Rama Fort very much. This old fort is so beautiful that I cannot describe it, especially the view from the top of the fort. I am giving its picture here. You can see for yourself how beautiful the place is.

So in my opinion, if you want to travel to South Goa, then you must definitely come here and visit Cabo de Rama Fort. Here you will actually know a lot about the history of the place and how this traditional fort was built. From the top of the fort, you can get a great view of all the beautiful beaches around. I could see Agonda, Palolem, and all these beaches from here, and I felt very good.

Here I saw a lot of tourists and learnt a lot by talking to them. If you come to travel here, you will notice that most of the foreign tourists come to travel here. So, do not miss seeing Cabo de Rama Fort during your trip to Goa; definitely come here.

St. Anthony’s Church, Galgibaga:

St. Anthony’s is a very beautiful church located just 9 km from Patnem beach. It is located in the beautiful and peaceful village of Galgibaga. You will find a very peaceful environment around you, and here you can connect with your inner self.

It is located in a very peaceful natural place, so I really liked going here, and the peaceful environment here made me very happy. If you go by scooty or car, you can reach here by driving for about twenty minutes. You can use Google Maps to see the route.

Holy Cross Chapel, Canacona:

Holy Cross Chapel is a very beautiful church located just six km from Patnem beach. This small church located in the small village of Canacona is very beautiful. The beautiful Portuguese architecture and the peaceful environment around the church make it a great place to visit. You can easily stop here and travel here.

Moreover, within about 30 km, you will find many churches where you can visit and have a nice tour. Try to visit all the places here on Sunday. If you are going to visit here during Christmas, then you will have a great time and will be able to enjoy the whole of Goa in a very beautiful way. Goa is completely decorated during Christmas. I really like the charm of the church here, so if you have time, then visit the churches during Christmas.

Places to Eat in Patnem:

The food in all areas of Goa is very good, and if we talk about authentic Goan food, then I would say that I really liked Goan shrimp and crab. There are some famous foods in Patnem, like omelette cooked with chicken gravy, which you will like very much; it is called Ros Omelette. There are also Chorizo, Shawarma, and Chicken Cafreal, all these foods you can eat in some famous authentic restaurants here.

Here I am looking for some food places around Patnem beach from where you can eat some famous food here. I can guarantee that you will like the food there, and the food in those places is very fresh and flavorful.  For example, there is a restaurant nearby called Home. I really liked its food; besides, there are many other restaurants. Like Patnem Garden Restaurant and Jaali Boutique and Café, etc., the food of all these places is very good.

If you go to travel here, do not miss the local food here. We eat normal food at our home, but when you travel to Goa, you should try the authentic food here. Try to eat from all the restaurants that I am talking about. Then you will get the real taste of this place; it is not that you will not get good food by eating somewhere else; apart from these, there are many good restaurants where you can eat better and fresh food. 1. Home Cafe:

A very famous and very beautiful restaurant is Home Cafe. While eating here, I felt like I was sitting in a local’s house and eating their home food. The cafe is very famous for its comfortable atmosphere, homemade food, and friendly service. I tried the Goan fish thali here, and it was a burst of flavours, spicy, tangy, and absolutely delicious. The fish thali has a fish, vegetables, lentils, and a special type of curry in which eggs are placed. Besides trying some snack items, I liked it very much.

You can try different types of juices here. I really liked the food here; it was very spicy, and the tandoori was very tasty. I also liked the food here and the coconut pancake at the end of the food. If you are a vegetarian, then no problem; they have vegetarian options. They will arrange vegetarian food in a completely different way.

2. Sea View Restaurant:

If you are looking for a restaurant for breakfast in South Goa, then this Sea View Restaurant is a great option for you. The breakfast here is very famous and delicious; there are vegetarian options. Since it is located very close to the beach, you can enjoy the great view of the beach along with your breakfast. I would recommend you try the famous prawn vindaloo here; it is a spicy and tasty dish.

The seafood here is very fresh; you can cook it as you wish. If you like grilling, they can grill fish for you. A very nice place to have breakfast, you can also have your lunch here if you want.

3. Jaali Boutique and Café:

It is not directly on the beach, but it is worth visiting the restaurant for its beautiful setting. You can call this restaurant a mix of a boutique and a café, and the setting is very beautiful. Their Mediterranean dishes are very nice and amazing. I would recommend you try the falafel platter and hummus here. I liked the hummus very much. They make very fresh food.

You don’t have to sit here for long; the food will be ready in just 15 to 30 minutes. I would suggest you have your afternoon snack here. The ambiance is so nice that you will feel happy after eating here. There is also a separate arrangement for vegetarians.

4. April 20:

For some delicious food, you can try April 20; the restaurant is located a little away from the beach. So you won’t get a direct view of the beach from here, but the ambiance of the restaurant is very nice, and the food is also very good. Especially the drinks here, when I went here, I really liked some of the drinks here, especially Neero (the juice of cashew apples) and Urrak (made from cashew fruits). I would recommend you try the authentic Goyalkhali here if you go here. There are many happy hours here during which you get special discounts on the price of the food.

Where to stay in Patnem Beach and Beach Huts:

While travelling to South Goa, I would suggest you stay near Patnem Beach, as you will get a lot of accommodation options here. I stayed here for about three days and explored all the places to stay around. In my opinion, you will get very luxurious, midrange hotels and budget-friendly hotels, as well as beautiful beach houses.

So here you will have all kinds of options. If you want to stay in a beach house, then there are very luxurious and budget-friendly beach houses for you. I would suggest that if you travel here, you try to stay in the beach houses here for a few days because it gives you a local and authentic experience of Goa. You try to enjoy the beach view directly from the beach houses; besides, there are many other facilities.

There are more famous hotels and resorts that are located very close to the beach, so there is no need to worry. I am presenting all the options in front of you so that you can decide where to stay.

Beach Huts:

If you want to wake up to the sound of the beach, then a great way is to stay at Patnem Beach House. During my trip, I was almost fascinated by the very beautiful and colourful beach huts here. I tried to stay in as many of these accommodations as possible. The beach huts are very neat and clean. I am giving a few suggestions. If you want, you can stay in all those huts.

You can enjoy the view of the beach directly from the beach huts, and you can watch the sunset and sunrise directly from your room. These are some amazing beach huts.

1. La La Land Resort:

This is a very comfortable hut with a great view. This resort has a rating of about 4.4 on Google and is located very close to the beach. It was the best experience of my life that I stayed here. Every room was very beautiful and had a good ambiance; if we talk about the staff, then every staff member was very friendly.

You can call it a jungle-themed resort located on a small hillside. The views here at night are very beautiful, and every room was quite big and very neat. If you are looking for a luxury beach house, then this La La Land Resort is perfect for you. If I ever want to travel again, I will definitely stay here one day.

2. Sea Front Beach Huts Patnem:

Google has a 4.4 rating for these beautiful beach huts, and if you want to stay very close to the beach and see the beach directly from the room, then I would suggest you stay at these sea front beach huts. I have a very great experience here; the rooms are very beautiful and very colorful.  I stayed here for a day, and I loved it.

Every staff member was also very good. The food at the in-house restaurants here was very nice. I ordered food from their restaurant during my stay, and every meal was very good. If you ask me to rate it, I would give it a 5 out of 5. I loved the hotel so much that I didn’t want to leave. But I had a train the next day, so I had to go, and I could only stay here for one day.

I recommend you try the Paneer Tikka and Chicken Tikka Masala here. I liked it a lot among all the South Goa beach houses, and you can say that this beach house is one of my favourite places. You can book the huts by calling their official number, 08999246395.

3. Om Shanti Beach Stay:

Another result of my choice is this Om Shanti Beach Stay. I had a lot of fun here, and the surroundings are very beautiful, and this hotel is located very close to the beach. The price of staying here is around 5 thousand to 6000 rupees. The hotel has a rating of around 4.2 on Google. I saw most of the foreigners staying here, but I also liked the hotel very much.

My recommendation is that you can stay here for a day. From every room you can enjoy the great view of the beach, and you can see the sunset and sunrise from your room. They have many huts where you can stay if you want. Moreover, if we talk about food, every food here is very delicious. I especially liked the chilli chicken, and the staff here was very friendly. 4. Roundcube Patnem:

This is a very famous two-star resort. It is located very close to the beach and is a very beautiful resort. There is a lot of seating outside the resort where you can easily enjoy the view of the beach and food. Some rooms in front of their hotel have a great view of the beach, and you can also enjoy the sunset and sunrise from here.

Their restaurant serves a variety of authentic Goan food. The rooms were very clean, and the staff was very friendly. Try to book the hotel about a month before your trip. This hotel can be between 3000 and 6000 rupees. If you book in advance, you may be able to get it for less. Otherwise, if you book late, you may have to pay more. 5. Sai Priya Room Service’s:

If you want to stay on a very small budget, then this Sai Priya Guest House can be the best option for you. The hotel is located very close to the beach, and you can enjoy a great view from the hotel. Moreover, the hotel is very cheap; you can book the hotel within just 500 to 1000 rupees.

I found the hotel staff to be very friendly; besides, you can see a lot of places to eat nearby, because they do not have their own restaurant. If we talk about the rooms, then each one is very clean and tidy. Here you can book from various travel websites; besides, you can book the hotel directly by talking to them.

5. Sea View Resort:

This is a very beautiful resort, not very close to the beach but a little away. I hope this will be within your budget because you can book this resort within just 1000 to 1500 taka. Each room of the resort is very beautiful, and there is a swimming pool here. You will get the facility of WiFi in each room, and also some rooms have TVs, so you don’t need to go anywhere else for entertainment.

Some rooms have balcony facilities from where you can enjoy the surrounding view. If you go here, try to get a balcony room. You will reach this beautiful sea view resort after walking for about 5 minutes from the beach, so I will suggest you. Things to do in Patnem Beach:

You can do a variety of things at Patnem Beach, like exploring the beautiful shacks here, doing yoga, scuba diving, and kayaking, as well as walking on the beautiful golden sands here. But the North Goa beach is the best place to do extreme water activities like banana boat rides, jet skiing, bumper rides, parasailing, etc. Similar activities are offered at almost all the beaches in South Goa.

The beaches here are very different from the beaches of North Goa. They do not get crowded like North Goa, so the beaches of South Goa are usually empty. It gets a little more crowded during winters. If you are bored of your busy life and want to spend some time relaxing, then Patnem Beach is the right place.

Relax on the beach:

I think you will probably want to sit on the beach for a while first. Because this beach is very peaceful, completely different from the busy beaches of Uttar Kumar. Sit on the golden sand here and relax for a while and watch the sunset. When I first came here, I was very happy to see the golden sand here and the peaceful atmosphere there was making the experience even more wonderful.

So you can also come here and sit on the golden sand here for a while and enjoy the surrounding environment. Be sure to bring a beach towel with you; otherwise, you can rent a sitting place from the shacks located nearby. Rent a chair for just Rs 100 to 200 and relax by the sea and take some food with you.

Explore the shacks on Patnem Beach:

Patnem beach has a lot of shacks, and the shacks here are very beautiful. Some of the shacks also offer accommodation. My favourite shack is Papaya, but I didn’t stay here; I just went here and had some food. I really liked the food here, and all the beach huts I mentioned also offer shack services. The shacks look very beautiful at night, and each shack is beautifully lit. The food and drinks are well arranged. I mostly ate grilled prawns here.

Different shacks have their own signature items that you can try. The best experience was that these shacks have live music in the evenings, so eating while listening to that beautiful music is a great experience. You can enjoy food and drinks sitting in the beautiful shacks here with your loved ones. It will be a great experience for you.

Try Yoga Class:

If you do yoga regularly and also if you want to try yoga for the first time, then Patnem Beach is a great place. There are many yoga classes and ashrams here where yoga is practiced. They are located very close to the beach; if you want, you can go to them and do your first yoga of your life. Moreover, doing yoga in the morning is very good for your body and health. I joined their morning session, and they were doing different types of yoga exercises.

Doing yoga with the sound of the beautiful stream next to the beach is a different kind of fun. It completely relaxed my mind, and I almost forgot all my physical pain. So I would suggest you, if you love to stay fit, then definitely join the yoga classes there. Try yoga for at least two days; you will learn a lot. Mostly foreigners come here, but I have seen many Indians doing yoga here too.

Scuba Diving or Kayaking:

Patnem beach is a perfect place for water activities. I did kayaking here, and I really liked it. The sea here is so calm that I was not afraid much while kayaking. Kayaking in the clear blue sea is a different kind of fun. If you often kayak, I would also say that you should come here and try it once; you will really like it.

If you like a little more adventure, like me, then you can try scuba diving here. I first tried scuba diving at ECR beach in Chennai, and my experience there was very good. I saw many tourists scuba diving here, and when I asked them about their experience, they said that there is beautiful wildlife under the sea. If you want to see beautiful wildlife under the sea, then definitely come here and scuba dive.

Patnem Beach Nightlife:

It doesn’t have the same bustling night lights as North Goa. But you can still enjoy a lot here; there are many famous shacks and cafes where live music is played. Spend your evening there. I was travelling alone, and one evening I went to a shack here and listened to live music and enjoyed my drinks. I liked the live music here so much that I recorded it on my phone.

During happy hours, the prices of snacks and beer are very cheap; you can get beer and snacks here at a discount of about 30 to 40 percent. I didn’t expect that I would be able to see such beautiful nightlife in South Goa. But the nightlife of Patnem beach is really great.

Bioluminescence at Patnem Beach:

If you are lucky, you can see bioluminescence at Patnem Beach. I was not so lucky, so I did not see it, but according to many tourists, bioluminescence can be seen here. It is a natural phenomenon where light is seen in the water in the dark. It is very cool to see it; usually in other countries, such things are seen.

Bioluminescence has been seen at ECR Beach in Chennai and some beaches in South Goa. The best time to see bioluminescence is on a new moon night and on a night when it is darkest. So if you are travelling here and are lucky, then you can definitely see bioluminescence.

Visit the local market:

There is a local market near Patnem Beach where you can buy various types of jewellery and handmade items. You will get local and authentic things from all these markets, so do not miss it. Definitely buy something from here for your family and friends. I went to visit a small market near Palolem, and I found the small stalls here very interesting.
