Kakolem Beach is a hidden gem of South Goa that not everyone can find. If you want to explore an offbeat destination,  It’s a perfect combination of a waterfall and a beach. Kakolem Beach is a beach where you can see waterfalls. Usually no other beach in Goa has waterfalls except Kakolem Beach, which has a small and beautiful waterfall.

How to reach Kakolem Beach:

Kakolem Beach is located in South Goa. The easiest way to reach Kakolem Beach is if you have a scooter; you can easily get here. I had a scooter, so I could easily travel to every beach here. Try to rent a scooter or a bike when you reach Goa; you can also come here by car, but you have to park a little away.

It is located in a very quiet location. The beach is a private property, so there is no bus or taxi stand, so you cannot come here by taxi or bus. Keep this in mind that you must have a private car or scooter to come here directly. If you want to come by taxi, you can get a taxi to Palolem Beach from anywhere. From there, you have to walk to Kakolem Beach on the main road.

The road leading to Kakali Beach is very bad, so you have to drive very carefully to reach here. Canacona is the nearest town, and it is about 10 kilometres away (about a 20-minute drive). If you are coming from Goa airport, then the distance from Goa airport to Kakolem beach is about 54 km. If you are coming from Kola Beach to Kakolem Beach, then you will reach here after covering a distance of 6.5 km. For those who want to come to Baga Beach, the distance from Baga Beach to Kakolem Beach is about 76 kilometres.

When you reach Kakolem beach, you have to park your car or scooter about 800 meters before coming to the beach. Took 100 rupees from me for parking fee. Those who park cars may charge more. As it is located on private land, they were charging parking charges. Descending that 800-meter hill to the beach was so thrilling I can’t tell you. We entered the beach through a very narrow road surrounded by mountains.

There are no food shops around the beach, so be sure to bring some snacks and a bottle of water when you come here. The distance from Cabo de Rama Beach to Kakolem Beach is about 7.5 kilometers. And while coming to South Goa, you have to pass Cabo de Rama Beach and come to Kakolem Beach.

Located at a distance of about 7 km from Agonda Beach, you can easily reach here by scooter from Agonda Beach. If you are coming from Madgaon Railway Station, the distance from Madgaon to Kakolem is about 45 km. You will find many scooter rentals around the station, from where you can rent a scooter and enjoy the pleasant weather here.

As we all know, South Goa is famous for its peaceful environment, and Kakolem Beach is located in South Goa, which adds to the charm of this lovely place. It is located quite far from the highly popular North Goa beaches of Goa. But if you are staying in South Goa, then it will be very easy for you to reach here and explore the surrounding areas of this beach.

So when you plan to travel to South Goa, then come to this beach and have a great trip. For example, Cabo de Rama Fort is about 7.5 kilometres from here. If you want to visit Butterfly Beach, then you have to come because after crossing Kakolem you will reach Butterfly Beach. The distance from Butterfly Beach to Kakali Beach is about 10 km.

A famous beach in South Gara is Kola Beach. It is located only 6.5 km from Kakolem; those who come to visit South Goa often want to visit Cola Beach. There are many tombs around the fort, which are a sight to behold and give a glimpse of the fort’s antiquity. There is a small view point on top of the fort from where you can see all the beaches around. The view you will see from the top will make you feel like you have gone to another country. When I first visited here, the scenery made me feel like I was in Italy.

Explore Kakolem Beach Waterfalls:

Another special thing about Kakolem Beach is that there is a beautiful and small waterfall that attracts many tourists. It is the most hidden place in the whole of Goa; many tourists who want to travel do not come to this beach because of its secluded and quiet location.

Kakolem Beach is the only beach with waterfalls. As the waterfall is located about 500 meters from the beach, you have to do a short trek to reach this waterfall. The falls are usually not crowded, but if you visit Goa during the travel season of November to March, you might see a little crowd. Also, very few tourists visit here; the best time to visit the falls is from June to September.

During this time, due to the monsoon, the water of the waterfall is full, the waterfall becomes more powerful, and the water flow here becomes very intense. If you want to travel here during other seasons, then the water flow of the falls is not so intense, but it will still be a sight to behold. Dipping your feet in the cool water near the waterfall is a different kind of peace. Some of us friends were doing a lot of sports near the waterfall, and our bodies and minds were cooling down by touching the cool water of this waterfall.

We could not believe that such a beautiful place is located in this country. When you see such beautiful glassy water, you will also be surprised that it is in India. Surrounded by lots of palm trees and coconut trees, a short, narrow trek leads upwards from the side of the falls. The best things to do in Kakolem Beach are simple and undeniable that will give you a great experience. The beach is very quiet so walking barefoot on the soft sand here will give you a great experience, the very soft white sand is very peaceful even walking barefoot on this sand. Very few tourists visit this beach and as the crowd is less, the beach activities are not shot here.

This is a great option for beach photography. If you want to do your pre wedding shoot then I suggest you do your pre wedding photo shoot at this Kakolem beach. Another nice activity here is dolphin watching from the beach, if you are lucky you might even spot some dolphins in the distance. But I can’t swear because we didn’t see dolphins ourselves, people around here say that dolphins can be seen from here. If your luck is with you then surely you can see dolphins.

For those like me who love to trek and explore, there is a rocky hill next door that is a lot of fun to climb. But be careful the rocks are very narrow, and you have to climb the cliff on that road. Every bend in this road will give you a great and different view of the sea. Here are some hidden spots you might find while trekking, all things that make this Kakolem beach a little different from other beaches.

Beach Huts and Hotels at Kakolem Beach:

As Kakolem Beach is located in a very secluded and quiet place, you will not get many options for staying at the beach. But you will find some cosy huts and hotels nearby. Agonda and Cola beaches are very close to this beach; you can also come to this Kakolem beach from around these two beaches if you want.

But if you have decided that you will stay at Kakolem Beach, then I will give you some famous hotels and cosy huts here. You can book them before coming if you want. If you are looking for an authentic stay experience, then I suggest you stay at the cosy Huts here. It will give you a great experience of living in a completely different environment and being close to nature.

If you are planning your trip from November to February, then try to book them at least two months in advance. It gets a bit crowded during all these times, so you might not get a room to stay here. It is better to book in advance, and there are one or two hotels nearby where you can stay. If you want to stay in Kakolem, then stay in the beautiful huts here and get a great experience of being with nature.

It is a very nice hotel located very close to Kakolem Beach. There are two huts and normals here. Staying here will give you a great feeling. I stayed here for one day, and my experience was great. You can enjoy the beach view very directly and easily from the hotel rooms. The special thing about the hotel is that you don’t have to go outside to buy food here; they have their own restaurant.

If you book the food-included package, then you will get lunch, dinner, and breakfast from here. The hotel has a rating of 4.6 on Google, and many people say the hotel is very good. You can enjoy the beautiful sunset of Kakolem Beach from the hotel. The hotel is located in a very quiet environment, so tourists do not know much about this hotel, but it is a little difficult to get bookings here during peak times.

You can walk just 305 steps to reach the beautiful beach here, so get up early and take a tour of Kakolem Beach right from the hotel. If you are planning to stay for 3-4 days, then the hotel is best because the staff here is very good. Especially the manager here, Dilkhush, I really liked his manners.

Another good thing about the hotel is that the hotel has parking facilities. So if you are bringing a scooter or car, then you can park at the hotel. The food here is very tasty. Here we had vegetable biryani and Goa’s famous street food, prawn fish fry, and crab fry too. You really do not miss all these dishes in this hotel.

Cancoi volla beach huts:

Cancoi Volla Beach Huts is another beautiful hut located on Kakolem Beach. Google has about a 4.3 rating, and only 11 people have reviewed this hotel. But I liked the way he used it here, and the food was fine. The biggest thing is if you come here and want to stay in these huts here. And if you want to experience nature, it is better to stay in these huts.

Whenever you come here, book once at the hotel or talk to the hotel. I am giving you the number of the hotel. The phone number of the hotel is 0130 877 6255. Call this number once and then come to travel here. And you should try to book the hotel at least a month in advance. I really liked the food and drink here; I had the same very famous Goan food: crab curry and prawn fish fry.

Parking is not a problem here; if you are bringing a scooter, you can use the car parking here. But there is no such arrangement here for keeping four-wheelers.

Sea Front Cottages Little Cola:

Little Cola Beach is another beautiful beach located a short distance from Kakolem Beach. This beautiful hotel called Sea Front Cottages is made entirely of wood and offers you a wonderful experience. The hotel has a Google rating of 4.4. This hotel also has food and beverage facilities. Just outside the hotel you will find Little Cola Beach, and just 5 minutes drive you will reach Kakolem Beach. The huts here are very beautiful and comfortable.

You can easily book the hotel from booking.com or other travel websites. The price of staying at the hotel is around 5 thousand to 7 thousand. The contact number here is 094211 01818. Before coming here, call this number once and book the hotel. Because the hotel is booked almost a month in advance.

Cola Goa Beach Resort:

Located just a short distance from Sea Front Cottages is this very beautiful hotel, Cola Goa Beach Resort. Being very close to the sea, you can enjoy the view of the beach very well from the hotel. The hotel rooms are made entirely of wood, and the Huts here are provided with all the facilities like air- conditioning, bathtubs, etc.

This hotel is so beautiful that you will feel like you are staying in a paradise. All the views you get from this hotel are beautiful. Try to book the hotel about two months in advance, as it gets booked up quickly. The hotel has a Google rating of around 4.3, and the staff here are very friendly.

If we talk about food, there was a restaurant in the hotel, and all kinds of authentic Goa food were available in that restaurant. I really like those foods. If you are travelling here with your family or loved ones, then the hotel is heaven for you. I probably ate the most delicious food here in this hotel.

However, the hotel is a bit costly; you can book the hotel from websites such as booking.com, MakeMyTrip, etc. You may have to spend around 16 thousand to 20 thousand rupees to book a hotel. Kakolem beach entrance fee and some tips:

Let me inform you that there is no entrance fee to enter Kakolem Beach. It is completely free, as you are entering through a private property, so you have to pay only 100 rupees for parking there. It is a very beautiful beach for everyone to enjoy free of charge; there is no entry fee for Indians and foreign tourists.

I have travelled here, and here are some tips that I think you should give. I will share with you what I learnt from my experience of travelling here. Maybe if I had known earlier it would have been more convenient for me to travel here.

Best time to visit:

The best time to visit here is from November to February, as the weather here is very pleasant and dry. So I would suggest you visit this time if you are coming to visit this peaceful environment. Or if you are a little nature lover and love rainfall, then this is the best time for you to travel.

From July to September, there is a lot of rainfall, so the waterfall here flows with full flow. Especially if you are coming to visit waterfalls, then this monsoon season is best for you. If you are fixing your travel plans during the summer, then you may face some difficulties. Because I didn’t like the weather here because it was very hot at this time. Try to avoid summer and travel in winter or travel in monsoon season.

What to bring

If you decide to go in the morning and return in the afternoon doing a full beach tour, Then you need to carry some things with you, especially a water bottle and some food items like snacks, etc. Also, don’t forget to carry sunscreen, and a sun hat is even better. As it is a secluded, quiet place, there are no eateries or other shops to be found in the vicinity. You take all these things with you so that it is at your advantage.

Safety Tips

The trail is very narrow and steep as you descend from the top of the hill. Drive very carefully from there and also avoid travelling late at night. It is better not to travel at night; in my opinion, it is better to travel here during the day. If you travel at night, you may fall on the wrong rock and slip from there.

Why Kakolem beach should be on your Goa travel list:

All the beaches are located in a quiet and uncrowded area. So if you want to spend some time in a calm climate then this can be a best option for you. Moreover, this Kakolem beach is the only waterfall in entire Goa, you can come to this beach just to visit the waterfall.

Moreover, you will be mesmerized by the beautiful surroundings full of greenery here. And the entire beach has soft sand and crystal clear water that you won’t find at other beaches in North Goa. If you are an adventure lover then this place is like heaven for you. Because there are small and big hills around here where you can do various adventure activities like mountain climbing etc.

The road to reach here is difficult, but you can find it easily with the help of Google Maps. And I will especially tell you if you are coming to travel then put this paradise in your travel list and come here to travel. When you try to come here you might get a little bored because it might be a little difficult to come here. But once you get here then you won’t want to leave.
